As the Data Governance Specialist, you will be a foundational member of the Data Office, responsible for supporting and developing data governance initiatives across the organization.
In this role, you will work closely with various stakeholders to define, develop, and implement data governance policies and processes, supporting the organization’s value-based data-driven transformation.
You will have an important role in fostering data literacy, ensuring compliance, and increasing stakeholder engagement to support a culture of effective data management.
Key Responsibilities
Data Governance Strategy Execution:
- Collaborate with the Head of the Data Office to design and roll out the organization's data governance framework.
- Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and practices to ensure data quality, data stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
- Engage with cross-functional teams, including data owners, data stewards, IT, and business units, to ensure alignment and adoption of data governance practices.
- Act as the primary point of contact for data governance inquiries and provide training and resources to promote data literacy.
Policy and Process Management:
- Create and maintain documentation for data governance policies, including data stewardship, data quality standards, and data security protocols.
- Oversee the implementation of policies across data systems and ensure consistency and adherence to governance standards.
Data Quality and Compliance:
- Establish metrics and reporting processes to monitor data quality and compliance across systems.
- Support initiatives to identify and resolve data quality issues, collaborating with teams to establish corrective and preventive measures.
Educational Outreach and Training:
- Develop and conduct data governance training sessions for various levels within the organization to promote best practices.
- Establish a culture of data accountability and awareness by educating teams on the importance of data governance principles.
Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices to continuously refine and improve the organization’s data governance approach.
- Collaborate with the Data Office team to prioritize and support data tooling and technology that enhance governance capabilities.
Qualifications
As a Data Governance Specialist, we expect you to have sufficient years’ experiences in data management and data governance. You most likely come from an industry that prioritizes critical and valuable data assets and applies ‘just enough’ data governance.
Key expectations of the role is having great communication skills and an enthusiasm to interact with people across the organisation to produce tangible benefits to our data initiatives.
